JumpscareSpen took the time to answer some of our questions and share some very touching information about his life and his journey as a content creator. See what he had to say below.

What’s your name?

My name is Spencer, but I’m known as JumpscareSpen. People call me as Jumpy, Jumpo, Jum, Jumpy, Spen, or Spencey (but prefer not called as Spencey).

Where are you from?

I am from PA.

Tell us about what got you into streaming/Youtube. How long have you been doing it?

After years, I survived depression. However, on New Years 2017, I was the only sibling to see my father on New Years, the last time before he passed away, in New York... I forget to say “Happy New Year.” So, I was very depressed and give up hope in my gaming dream and everything. Later, around June 2017, I started my YouTube. One day I got access to the SOS Alpha. I ran into H2O Delirious who shot me in the face in his YouTube Video ( at 9:25) while I am only Ohmwrecker’s only friend in the Island (my point of view: It’s was so funny. Because of that, I gained so many followers and I started working more, however, I feel I need work more to focus on my own subscribers. I do not like getting other people’s followers to follow me. I would rather have genuine followers follow me based on my personality and voice if people understand what I want to say. Short term, H2ODelirous, and Ohmwrecker is my inspiration.

What keeps you streaming / creating videos?

What keeps me streaming is that the community supports me and enjoys who I am. I also am hardworking, and I want to work on my stream/creating videos to market JumpscareSpen. I aim to be big one day for being myself.

Besides SOS, what other games do you like to play?

I play a ton of variety of games including mostly horror games, as I am branded as the “Jumpscare” type of person because of my name and due to the fact that I am easily jumpy or scream like a girl. Also, I am looking forward playing a new game called Last Year: New Nightmare is a game that revolves around Jumpscares and survival.

What do you like to do when you’re not creating content?

When I am offline from creating content, I tend to look up marketing. When I am offline from creating content, I tend to look for a way to market myself to become big with viewers because I want to try to make better content for everyone and have them enjoy who I am, as I do not like to copy people's content.  I aim to turn my gaming career into a living by being who I am and making sure people really do enjoy what I’m doing.

How long have you been playing SOS?

I played since Alpha/Beta in original SOS: Classic about 1,300 hours or more. Do not let my hours fool you guys in SOS: Battle Royale since they made the original SOS client that was used for the Classic version of SOS for SOS BR. I only have 100 hours or over in SOS: Battle Royale.

What was the moment in-game that got you hooked on SOS?

I got hooked on after I encountered H2ODerlious and Ohmwrecker. During that time, I was in depression where I was lost without my father in 2017’s New Year. Then, after I met them, it gave me motivation to not give up my dream as a gamer. I kept playing SOS and of course I still do but when it was released after the beta, and I met new players and people and enjoyed the game.

What is your favorite thing about the new BR mode?

My favorite thing in BR is that I do not feel pressured from SOS: Classic. In Classic I knew a lot of people and I felt bad if I killed them, so I would have a hard time playing it. When SOS BR came out and lots of people from Classic along with me started playing it, being able to kill each other and not having to worry that you did kill someone you know is very enjoyable. During Classic, I met many good friends like Twelve who turned like a father figure for me. I also met other like Nastay, Redemption, Kattail, R1sh12, Perun, MrMicheal, Babysue, Holyforce and so many names that I could make a long list.

What are your two favorite weapons in BR mode? Why?

I like the shotgun due to it having a good feeling of gameplay, and it’s enjoyable when I blast someone. The sound of the shotguns sound so satisfying for some reason, including the AKM. I like the AKM where it sound sos smooth when I tap someone in the head. To be honest, I don’t really have any favorite guns. I like all the guns in the same way... besides the rifle...

How would you describe your style of gameplay in SOS?

My gameplay style is creative and knowledgeable. I study all the metas in the game as I make up new metas of my own. I play smart and aggressive, therefore I am somewhat mixed in my gameplay style.

Any words of wisdom?

Well, if I have any words of wisdom… All I have to say is don’t really care about the win and focus on making better plays and kills. Learn your mistakes and keep practicing to become better. What makes the best player out there “the best player” is to learn from their plays and deaths and think what can I do to make it better.

Anything else you want to say? Any shoutouts?

I want to shoutout those genuine people who are there for me and being apart of my community and getting me to where I am right now which is a lot. Thank you for being there for me and supporting me throughout SOS. To be honest, I don’t think I would have gotten to be one of the top players without the community and I can’t appreciate them enough.

You shouldn’t put stuff like “hope” or “I feel like I do not deserve” you need to be strong and “aim” to be big and be “grateful” that you’ve already gotten this far and use it to your advantage.

Don’t put yourself down. Keep your head high.
